Next generation of John Logie Baird’s revealed!

Scotland's top inventors and innovators of 2008 have been crowned.

Winners were honoured in front of over three hundred esteemed guests, including BBC dragon Doug Richard, Curry King of Glasgow, Charan Gill and John Logie Baird's son, Malcolm Baird at the gala dinner and awards ceremony at the Glasgow Science Centre on the 10th December.

Isabell Majewsky, Chief Executive of award organisers GO Group, said: "All of our winners really impressed our judging panels, who saw pitches from hundreds of inventors and innovators. They encompass what the John Logie Baird Awards are all about – entrepreneurship, passion and dedication."

She added: "During the course of the programme, we have identified many magnificent inventors and innovators and I’d like to congratulate them all."

Winner received the prize of £20,000 worth of support to progress their businesses. The awards, launched to commemorate John Logie Baird were also attended by the television inventors’ son.

Son Malcolm, said: "The John Logie Baird Awards are special, as tonight’s ceremony shows. Today it has brought together the finest innovators in Scotland.

"My dad first dreamt up the concept of television while he was still a teenager in Helensburgh in 1903. Of course, we’ve come a long way since then. This years’ awards have proven that Scotland is brimming with potential and that’s why our family are delighted to give full support to the awards."
